Alerts for: Bonavista North

10:44 AM NST Saturday 16 December 2017
Blowing snow advisory in effect for:

  • Bonavista North

Poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations.

Snowfall 10 to 15 cm expected.

Snow will begin along the western side of Bonavista Bay this afternoon and spread to remaining sections of these regions by early this evening. The snow is forecast to taper off overnight.

In addition, strong northerly winds with gusts up to 70 km/h are expected to develop this evening. These winds, in combination with the fresh snowfall, will result in reduced visibilities in blowing snow.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to or tweet reports using #NLwx.
