Wind southeast 20 to 30 knots except southeast 35 to 45 over southern sections today and early this evening and southwest 25 over southern sections this evening. Wind becoming southwest 20 to 30 after midnight then backing to south 25 early Saturday morning. Wind increasing to southeast 25 to 35 late Saturday morning and to southeast 35 to 45 Saturday afternoon. Wind diminishing to southerly 20 to 30 Saturday evening.

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:30 AM PST 19 January 2018 Today Tonight and Saturday At 10:30 a.m. PST today weakening low 992 mb located 100 miles
south of Cape St. James.
By 10:00 p.m. PST tonight dissipating low 998 mb located over
eastern Queen Charlotte Sound.

At 10:00 p.m. PST tonight intensifying frontal system located west
of the offshore waters.
By 4:00 p.m. PST Saturday frontal system located from Sandspit to
Cape Scott then to Tofino.


Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:55 AM PST 19 January 2018 A 992 millibar low 100 miles south of Cape St James will move
Slowly northeastward across Queen Charlotte Sound today while
weakening. The low will reach the Central Coast and dissipate near
McInnes Island overnight. A frontal system will approach the
Offshore waters overnight to lie from Haida Gwaii to Vancouver
Island Saturday afternoon.

Strong to gale force southeasterlies ahead of the low will ease to
moderate to strong tonight. Gale to local storm force
Northwesterlies in the wake of the low will also ease to moderate to
strong tonight.

Gale force southeasterlies will develop offshore ahead of the
Frontal system overnight, and spread to most waters on Saturday.
Winds will ease to strong southerlies behind the system.
