A moist and unstable air mass with a strong Pacific storm system will
bring the potential for isolated thunderstorms to the coastal
waters through late Thursday afternoon. Any thunderstorm that
forms will be capable of producing locally gusty winds and rough
seas, dangerous lightning, heavy rainfall with reduced visibility,
and waterspouts.

Before setting off and while underway, listen to NOAA weather
radio for the latest warning and forecasts.

Boaters using these harbors urged to exercise extra caution today
and tonight as a large northeast swell reaches the islands north
and east facing shores. The swell with a long period 13 to 14
seconds, coupled with the size of the swell of 10 to 11 feet, is
likely to produce moderate to strong surges in harbors such as
Hilo and Kahului today and tonight. Large waves break at harbor
entrances and channels will pose a threat to vessels entering or
exiting the harbors. The northeast swell will begin to diminish
tonight and continue through Friday.

Moderate northeast winds will continue on Lake Erie today. This
will continue to force the ice to break up and separate from the
shoreline, with ice floes moving out into the lake.

Avoid going out on the Lake Erie ice. There is a risk the ice will
break away from the shore and leave you stranded. The ice movement
may also pose a risk to any vessels which are crossing Lake Erie.
