Western Texas Smokey Air Forecast

U.S. Smoke Forecast Disscussion

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE
IMAGERY THROUGH 1500Z, May 25, 2018.

SMOKE:
New Mexico/North Texas...
A wildfire complex in west-central New Mexico were continuing to emit
locally moderate density smoke this morning. Further from the source,
the smoke was visible, but the smoke had dispersed and moved out toward
the north and east.
.
Northeastern US/Mid-Atlantic/Southern Canada...
Wildfires scattered across southern Canada from British Columbia into
Manitoba were observed producing smoke of varying density. As many of
these fires have persisted over the last few days, they have produced an
expansive area of varying density remnant smoke. The area covers southern
Canada from southern NWT and eastern British Columbia through southern
Quebec and southeast into New England and the Mid-Atlantic out into the
open Atlantic. This smoke will likely continue to spread toward the east.
.
Mexico/Pacific Ocean...
Light to moderate density smoke has accumulated in a layer south and
west of Mexico. The widespread fire activity throughout western Mexico,
coupled with widespread fire activity in southern Mexico yesterday, is the
source of this smoke. One fire in southern Mexico was also contributing
moderate density smoke to the smoke layer. The smoke from this fire was
heading due south. The larger layer of smoke is moving offshore and off
toward the west.
