DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2300Z November 20, 2017

Currently:

SMOKE:
Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains
Numerous fires were burning across eastern Texas and Oklahoma and
Louisiana/Arkansas with several producing light density smoke moving
mostly north in direction.

Earlier Today

DUST:
East of Windward Islands...
A thin layer of Saharan dust was observed entering the southeastern
Caribbean Sea. This layer had moved as far west as Aruba, Bonaire, and
Curacao from the central Tropical North Atlantic. The latitudinal extent
of this layer spans from the island of Guadeloupe south to Grenada and
Tobago. This layer was generally moving off toward the west.

OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME

FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST
ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF
THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO
THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
