Storm surge warning in effect for:

    Coastal flood warning due to waves issued jointly by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Science) and the Meteorological Service of Canada - Quebec region on 2017-12-12 at 3:30 pm EST.

    An intense low pressure system from the Great Lakes will reach Eastern Quebec on Wednesday. As it approaches, easterly winds will reach up to 90 kilometres per hour beginning this evening.

    Despite the fact that we are not currently in a period of very high tidal range, very low pressure combined with strong to high winds will cause coastal flooding in the vicinity of the following locales beginning this evening. The risk will be even greater at high tide Wednesday morning.



    Kamouraska - Rivière-du-Loup - Trois-Pistoles: 2017-12-13, from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

    Rimouski - Mont-Joli: 2017-12-13, from 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    Matane: 2017-12-13, from 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    Les Escoumins - Forestville: 2017-12-13, from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

    Baie-Comeau: 2017-12-13, from 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    Forillon Park - Gaspé - Percé: 2017-12-13, 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    New-Carlisle - Chandler: 2017-12-13, 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    Sept-Îles - Port-Cartier: 2017-12-13, from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm.

    Minganie: 2017-12-13, from 07:30 am to 11:30 am.

    Anticosti: 2017-12-13, 08:30 am to 12:30 pm.

    Natashquan: 2017-12-13, from 05:00 am to 09:00 am.

    Chevery: 2017-12-13, from 04:30 am to 08:30 am.

    Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas. People close to the shoreline should stay on the lookout for worsening conditions.

    Storm surge warnings are issued when water levels pose a threat to coastal regions.

    • Easterly winds up to 90 kilometres per hour will occur beginning Wednesday morning over these regions.

      Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
