Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Coral Harbour

An intense low pressure system will track through Hudson Bay today and into Foxe Basin on Monday, bringing rain at times heavy along with strong south winds to Coral Harbour, Cape Dorset, and Kimmirut.

At Coral Harbour, snow will change to rain today. Rain at times heavy tonight will give up to 20 mm along with a risk of freezing rain. Southeast winds will gust up to 70 km/h. Rain will then change to snow on Monday as the system starts to pull away.

At Cape Dorset, southeast winds will strengthen today with gusts up to 80 km/h expected tonight and Monday. Rainfall amounts up to 20 mm are also likely along with a risk of freezing rain for tonight.

At Kimmirut, there is a risk of freezing rain late tonight along with southeast winds gusting up to 80 km/h forecast for Monday morning. The rain will not be as heavy at Kimmirut as in communities further west.

This special weather statement has been replaced by a wind warning for Baker Lake, Arviat, Rankin Inlet, and Chesterfield Inlet.
