Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Tuktoyaktuk - East Channel Region
  • Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

    Conditions at Tuktoyaktuk will improve slightly overnight before deteriorating once again on Saturday morning. Strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h at times will maintain blizzard conditions until Sunday evening.

    At Paulatuk, westerly winds combined with further fresh snowfall will maintain blizzard conditions. Visibilities are expected to improve on Sunday evening here as well.

    Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Ensure that shelter is provided for pets and outdoor animals.

    Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 6 hours.
