Wind southeast 30 to 40 knots diminishing to northwest 20 to 30 early this morning except southwest 30 near Qualicum Beach. Wind becoming northwest 15 to 25 late this morning then diminishing to northwest 10 to 15 this afternoon. Wind diminishing to light early this evening then increasing to southeast 10 to 15 late this evening. Wind increasing to southeast 25 near midnight and to southeast 35 late overnight. Wind increasing to southeast 40 to 45 Wednesday morning then diminishing to southeast 20 to 30 Wednesday afternoon.

Rain ending early this morning. Rain at times heavy beginning after midnight.

There is no ice forecast issued for this area.

northeast-southwest over central Vancouver Island.
By 9:00 a.m. PDT today cold front located on a line
northeast-southwest over the Lower Mainland.

At 4:00 p.m. PDT today frontal system located west of the offshore
waters.
By 4:00 a.m. PDT Wednesday frontal system located on a line
north-south over Hecate Strait.

At 4:00 a.m. PDT Wednesday cold front located on a line
northeast-southwest over northern Vancouver Island.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT Wednesday cold front located on a line
northeast-southwest over southern Vancouver Island.


Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:45 AM PDT 17 October 2017 A cold front over Central Vancouver Island will move across the
South Coast early this morning. Strong to gale force southerly winds
ahead of the front will shift to strong to gale force
Northwesterlies in the wake of the front.

Another frontal system will approach the northern and central waters
from offshore late today and cross the North and Central Coasts
Wednesday morning. Winds will rise quickly to storm force
southeasterlies ahead of the system tonight. Winds will veer to
southwest gales in its wake.

Gale to local storm force southeasterlies will also develop over the
South Coast overnight or Wednesday morning as the system approaches.
As the system moves inland late Wednesday, winds will become strong
south or southwesterlies in its wake.

Seas will build to near 6 metres over the northern and central
Waters tonight, and to near 9 metres over the offshore waters
Wednesday evening.
