At 4:00 a.m. PDT today low located southwest of Explorer. By 4:00 p.m. PDT today low located near Queen Charlotte Sound.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:54 AM PDT 20 April 2024 A ridge of high pressure over the BC Interior will continue to drive strong coastal outflow winds this morning.
An area of low pressure approaching southwest of Explorer will move northeastwards to lie near Haida Gwaii this evening, weakening overnight. Strong to gale force winds are expected westwards of Vancouver Island this morning. These winds will spread into central waters later today.
Gale force westerly winds are forecast to follow this area of low pressure. Early this evening strong to gale force westerly inflow winds are likely through Juan de Fuca Strait and southern reaches of the Strait of Georgia can expect to see southwesterly gale force gusts.
